Michael Harper won the first place in the MTFAD logo contest.

Marblehead High School freshman Michael Harper was on to something recently in his graphic-design class. Starting with the town’s signature color of red and then incorporating various religious and gender symbols, he created a logo design that turned out to be a winner.

Harper’s design won first place in the Marblehead Task Force Against Discrimination logo contest. Seeking a new look for its 20th-anniversay year, the task force turned to high school students.
