Bel Air, MD – September 10, 2009 – Harford Cable Network is sponsoring a design contest for a new station logo. The contest is open to the public. Logo guidelines are:

What: Calling all Artists. The Cardiovascular Disease Foundation is holding a public design competition for the new logo for its 2010 seventh annual Walk for Life. The winning artist will have their art work displayed on the publicity materials for the foundation's annual 5K walk, including banners, posters, fliers, registration and other walk information forms, websites, PSAs (TV commercials), newsletters, as well as the 2010 commemorative T-shirts.

 Area artists are being given the opportunity to design the campaign logo for Steve Welch, Republican candidate for the 7th Congressional District.

Welch, founder of the Mitos group and co-founder of DreamIt Ventures, said in a release that his campaign would be about “engaging individuals and organizations who are often left out of the conversation,” hence the contest allowing local artists and designers to throw their two cents in by creating the campaign’s logo.

The contest, which boasts a $310 prize, is being hosted on www.99designs.com. More than 30 designs had been submitted by Sunday afternoon. Submissions must be in by July 24.

According to news sources, a 15-year-old boy from a Siberian orphanage known as “Ostovok”, which translates into tiny island, has won the children’s contest to design a spaceship logo. The orphanage is located in the region of Kemerovo in Western Siberia, and the young man who won, Yuri Menkevich, was one many competitors. Anatoliy Perminov, head of the Russian space agency, Roscosmos, approved the logo Menkevich submitted. It will become the emblem for the next Soyuz TMA-15 mission which is scheduled to launch in May.
